Notting Hill Carnival 2012-2015
These portfolios reveal the broad spectrum of revellers and visitors that make up the Notting Hill Carnival; London's unique take on a Caribbean tradition.
Carnival is nothing if not a rich, microcosm of contemporary London, its Caribbean diaspora, and the wider communities that enjoy its food, music and culture.
Regular attendees of the two-day spectacle will be bemused by the negative media narrative trotted out every year in the newspapers and TV/Radio news bulletins.
These images stand as a welcome counterpoint to that tired script.
There are always rumblings that the presence of Carnival in Notting Hill is under threat. However, it is encouraging to see the the community that brought it
to London still has a strong foothold in the neighbourhood and is determined to keep Carnival in Notting Hill.
May it continue to flourish as Europe's largest street festival.
